Sad news
recently broke that former UBO International Light
Heavyweight Champion Zoltan Kiss Jr.
passed away, only forty-three years old.
Kiss, who
also held the Hungarian national crown, won the
UBO International title in August of 2011 by
defeating Janos Olah.
In a career
that spanned between 2005 and 2016 he fought sixty
times, compiling a 33-24-3 (13) record, and shared
a ring with the likes of former undefeated WBO
World Champion Harry Simon.
The
Universal Boxing Organization (UBO) sends its
condolences to his family and loved-ones.

Its been quite a year
so far for two-time UBO All-Africa Welterweight
Champion Salehe Mkalekwa (13-5, 3
KOs) from Tanzania.
On March 10
he regained the UBO title by defeating Juma Waswa
in Dar Es Salaam, and just over five weeks later
he added the vacant ABU crown to his resume when
he scored a unanimous decision over undefeated
Egyptian Andreas Valavanis in Nairobi, Kenya.
On June 1
Mkalekwa was in Mbabane in Swaziland, where he
moved up to Super Welterweight and lost by
unanimous decision over twelve rounds to Namibian
Anthony Jarmann (14-2-1, 8 KOs) for the vacant WBA
Pan African title.

On June 22
in Alcobendas, Spain, UBO Female World
Minimumweight Champion Oezlem Sahin
(24-1-1, 8 KOs) from Germany will attempt to win a
second world title, when she squares off with
Joana Pastrana (12-1, 4 KOs) for the vacant IBF
belt.
The

all the best of luck in her big fight!

Happy
Retirement to Sweden´s former UBO Female World
Super Welterweight Champion Mikaela Lauren
(31-5, 13 KOs) who reportedly had her last fight
when she beat former IBF World Champion Eva Bajic
on June 9 in Gothenburg.
Lauren won
the UBO World title defeating the same Bajic in
October of 2012, and defended the title in March
of 2014 against Esther Matshiya.
She also
went on to win WBC and IBO world championships
before calling it a day.
