Winning the UBO
Inter-Continental Super
Welterweight title in April of
2008, impressively stopping
former European Champion Mamadou
Thiam in eight rounds, turned
out to be the last hurrah for
Ashira, who has not boxed since
and is reportedly happy in
retirement.
The former Kenyan Olympic
representative in Atlanta
(1996), and Commonwealth amateur
champion, now runs a gym in
Copenhagen, the capital of his
adopted home-country Denmark,
and works as a personal trainer.
