In the Dominican Republic, there is a hidden gem in Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Caribbean Super Lightweight champion Samuel Jaime “El Chocolatico” Rodriguez.

 
 

The undefeated 24-year-old (8-0, 7 KOs) turned professional in September of 2021, and, aside from a decision in his debut, has stopped all his foes inside the distance.

Fighting out of Santo Domingo, Rodriguez has yet to face an opponent good enough to test him properly, and even experienced journeyman David Martinez was done inside three rounds when the up-and-comer won the UBO title last April.

Inspired by his country´s former WBA world champion Javier Fortuna, whom he considers a friend and idol, Rodriguez last boxed on December 15 when he knocked out Roman Santos Rodriguez in impressive fashion


 
 

The main event that night was the aforementioned Fortuna, who also won by stoppage and is not quite ready yet to pass the torch to young Samuel.

But when the time comes, Rodriguez will be ready to step up to the plate, with plenty of ambition and talent, and become the next big Dominican boxing star.
