It was a night of many firsts for Bradley Townsend, the newly crowned Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Inter-Continental Welterweight champion from Witney in the United Kingdom.

His first pro fight outside of the U.K., his first title fight, and his first stoppage win. It was most likely also his first Christmas spent in Africa.

A wonderful achievement by the undefeated 28-year-old, winning the vacant UBO title in three rounds against local man Anama Dotse on Thursday evening, December 28, at the AMA Basketball Court in Accra, Ghana.

Townsend was originally scheduled to fight on the big “One in a Billion” card at Bukom Boxing Arena on December 19, but a 28 day precautionary suspension due to a cut suffered in a fight on November 25 prevented that, and he instead jumped at the chance to fight Dotse nine days later.

Now 15-0 (1), the most likely method of victory for Townsend appeared to be by decision, while the hard-punching Dotse (19-6, 18 KOs) must have fancied his chances by stoppage.

But Townsend was a man on a mission, and had no intentions of letting the judges decide the winner. He floored Dotse twice in round two, and went for the finish in round three, overwhelming the Ghanaian with a flurry of punches which forced the referee to step in.

The heat was unreal, so I took any opportunity I saw to get him out of there”, said the new champion after the fight. He succeeded in impressive fashion!

The fight headlined a show promoted by Platinum Punch Promotions in association with Box Office Sports.
