Chaise “Pretty Boy” Nelson (20-2-1, 8 KOs) is dialled in and ready for a shot at the Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) world Super Featherweight title on December 29.

The 26-year-old contender from Mansfield, Ohio will face Venezuelan Nestor “Gigante” Gonzalez (28-4, 20 KOs) for the vacant title in the main event of a show staged by 8 Count Boxing in Melgar, Colombia.

Former nine-time national amateur champion and Team USA member Nelson turned professional in 2016 after a remarkable 124-8 amateur career.

In the paid ranks, besides fighting in the United States, he has boxed several times in Mexico and Colombia, winning various regional titles, so going abroad for the biggest fight of his career doesn't faze him at all, saying:

All the hard work has been done, and when fight-night comes that's the fun part. I cant wait to perform under those lights, and stop my opponent early. He will fall!”

Gonzalez (28), however, has other ideas, brimming with confidence coming off a recent victory. He too turned pro in 2016, and won the Venezuelan national title a couple of years later.

Twice before has Gonzalez ventured outside Venezuela for major fights, both in 2019, losing to undefeated Juan Pablo Romero for a WBC title in Mexico, and Diego Ramirez by close decision for the IBF youth world title in Argentina.

Entering the fight in Melgar with momentum, he will be aiming to make it third time lucky in what is also the biggest fight to date for him.

Pretty Boy” vs. “Gigante”, two boxers in the prime of their careers looking to finish 2023 with a bang and become world champion.
