Undefeated power-puncher Lucas Pontes Da Silva, AKA Lucas Pereira, won the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) World Cruiserweight title in impressive fashion on Saturday night, July 1, in Brazil.

At a packed-to-the-rafters Para Clube in his home-town Belem, Pontes Da Silva convincingly stopped game but out-gunned late substitute Reinaldo “El Mocho” Gonzalez from Venezuela in the second round.

Originally scheduled to take on undefeated Venezuelan national champion Juan Diaz, who withdrew due to a hand-fracture, Pontes Da Silva didn't seem fazed by the change of foe and came out looking strong and confident.

Gonzalez tried to land hard shots himself, but was floored by a heavy body-shot in the first round. He bravely got up and made it through the round, but from that point on the local man was on a mission and continued to hurt him with body-punches.

Pontes Da Silva started the second round composed but determined, and when he floored Gonzalez again, with another body-shot, referee Reginaldo Peixoto decided the hurting Venezuelan was not able to continue, and waved the fight off.

Having already captured the Brazilian national title and the WBC South America title, the new UBO World Cruiserweight champion improved his professional record to 7-0 (7). No opponent has so far made it past the second round.

Reindaldo Gonzalez, an experienced boxer with several championship fights on his resume, is now 19-9 (11) since turning pro in 2010.

The fight was promoted by UP Boxe Show.
