UBO - Universal Boxing Organization™

If anyone deserves to be called “Mr. Azerbaijan Boxing”, it is 36-year-old incredibly busy boxer, promoter and manager Taryel Jafarov (20-6, 18 KOs).

His company, TGA Promotions & Management, was, along with partners MCM Promotions, the 2022 UBO Promoters of the Year.

On May 27 in his home-town Baku, he will headline himself when he fights for the Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Eurasia Heavyweight title.

Jafarov has switched between Cruiserweight and Heavyweight since turning pro in 2017. He is undoubtedly best suited for Cruiserweight, where he has won twelve of his last thirteen bouts, so its in a way ironic that in his first title fight on home soil he will be fighting at Heavyweight.

Never the less, that's how the chips have fallen, and he does plan to return to Cruiserweight soon and fight for a title at that weight.

But first he is focused on putting on a show for the Azerbaijani boxing fans on May 27 against co-challenger Muhammad Hafeez (5-2, 2 KOs) from Pakistan.

Jafarov´s sole loss in his last thirteen outings came due to injury against 10-0 American Muhsin Cason on the Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury undercard in Dubai last February. He has since rebounded with two victories and hopes to make 2023 his best year so far as a boxer.

But at the same time he is not sleeping on his promotional and managerial duties and will continue to create big opportunities for other boxers, in Azerbaijan and abroad.

Mr. Azerbaijan Boxing”? Indeed!
