It was a fight between two ambitious, hungry and skilled boxers when the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Female World Super Bantamweight title found a new owner on Saturday night, May 6, in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

After ten taxing and high-paced rounds at the Coliseu Boxe Center, undefeated local star Lila Dos Santos Furtado, now 9-0 (1), was declared the new champion by unanimous decision over co-challenger Bestalia Sanchez from Venezuela.

La Doctora” Sanchez, a well-schooled southpaw with a fine 12-1 (7) record going in, boxed well when able to keep the right distance, but Furtado was effective as the aggressor and rarely gave the visitor the space she needed to control things from the outside.

Clearly well-prepared to fight a lefty, Furtado landed straight right hands and hooks at close range, while Sanchez countered and also had her moments going forward. All in all it was competitive and entertaining from start to finish.

After the final bell both boxers looked confident of victory, but judges Everton Moreira Da Silva, Leonildo De Souza and Jose Borges all scored it for Furtado by 97-93, 98-92 and 99-91.

While not necessarily out of line as there were many close rounds, the last two scores doesn't do the effort of Sanchez justice, and, like Furtado, she can be very proud of her performance.

Televised live by Vem TV, the fight headlined a show promoted by Edinei Ferreira Santos and his Pernilongo Promotions.
