Highly regarded and undefeated contender Abel Mendoza (36-0, 26 KOs) will fight for the Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Inter-Continental Lightweight title on April 29 in Cali, Colombia.

27-year-old Mendoza, from El Paso in Texas, turned pro in 2016, and has since gone through every opponent put in front of him.

In 2019 he won the WBC Fecarbox Silver title, and in 2020 he captured American Boxing Federation titles at both Featherweight and Super Featherweight.

In June of 2021 Mendoza added the WBC FECOMBOX Super Featherweight belt to his collection, when he knocked out Mexican Daniel Mendez Torres (18-3-1, 10 KOs), in Mexico.

Now he is ready for his first championship fight at Lightweight, and will be facing another local man on away turf in Oswaldo “Zurdo” Miranda (11-6, 3 KOs), a former WBA regional titlist.

Having gone the distance in his last two fights, following a streak of eight straight stoppage wins, Mendoza will be looking to impress with a victory inside the distance.

No doubt Miranda has other plans, and sees this as a welcomed opportunity to resurrect his career with an upset victory.
