On Friday night, November 20, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Lambert Fogoum successfully retained the Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) All-Africa Cruiserweight title in his first defense.

In an entertaining, and in the beginning evenly contested, fight between Dubai-based Africans at the JW Marriott Dubai, the champion from Cameroon stopped “The Egyptian Hurricane” Hany Atiyo in the fifth round.

Lambert started slow, but worked effectively to the body of the much taller Atiyo who tried hard but never managed to effectively find his range.

As the rounds went, Fogoum increased the pressure, and in the fifth he floored Atiyo with a crushing right to the body, and the towel was thrown in to save the challenger. Time of stoppage: 1:39.

Fogoum, who is one of very few boxers who has boxed four times in 2020, having won the UBO title in March and stayed busy with two non-title fights, improved his professional record to 9-1-1 (8).

Atiyo, a former UBO All-Africa, Egyptian national and WBC (ABU) African Light Heavyweight Champion, falls to 17-4 (12).

The fight was promoted by Sanjai Boxing Promotions.
