UBO - Universal Boxing Organization™

Russian stars Aliklych Kanbolatov and Verazdat Chernikov were impressive in winning Universal Boxing Organization™ titles on Saturday night (October 18) at the Express in Rostov-on-Don, on a card promoted by SKV Boxing.

Kanbolatov, going in as the reigning UBO International Champion, won the vacant UBO World Middleweight title by stopping Mada Maugo from Tanzania in round five of a scrappy fight.

Scoring knockdowns in rounds three and four, Kanbolatov finally ended the fight at 1:11 of the fifth with a third knockdown that prompted the referee to call a halt to the proceedings.

Aliklych Kanbolatov improved his record to 10-2 (5), and Maugo, who recently also challenged for the UBO World Light Heavyweight crown, drops to 17-12 (12).

At Super Middleweight, Verazdat Chernikov was very impressive in getting rid of UBO International Champion Karama Nyilawila in six rounds to win the vacant UBO Inter-Continental title.

Cagey veteran Nyilawila presented some challenges for the 23-year-old Russian, but Chernikov effectively wore him down with body shots and stopped the Tanzanian with a left hook to the liver in round six.

Now 8-2 (2), Chernikov takes a major leap up the rankings and could be in line for a world title fight in the new year. Nyilawila, a former WBF World Champion, falls to 18-11-2 (10).

Also on the show, UBO World Cruiserweight Champion Dmitry Kudriashov improved his impressive professional record to 15-0 (15), stopping Romanian Giulian Ilie (20-7-2, 6 KOs) in round two of a non title-fight.
