UBO - Universal Boxing Organization™

Tanzanian Allan Kamote won the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ World Lightweight title on Sunday (October 5) when he defeated old nemesis Osgood Kayuni from Malawi in front of a partisan crowd at the Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanga.

Kayuni had defeated Kamote twice on points in Malawi, but this time, on a show promoted by Mwazoa Promotions, it would be the other way around as the home-man put on a boxing clinic to win a clear unanimous decision.

It was an entertaining bout, and both men did their part to give the fans a good show, but in the end there was no doubt who had won as judges Kondo Nassoro, Agapeter Mnazareth and Athuman Rashid all voted in favor of Kamote: 120-108, 119-109 and 118-110. Referee was Anthony Ruta.

The new UBO World Champion takes his professional ledger to 25-7-4 (14), while Kayuni goes back to Malawi at 14-3-1 (7).

Also on the card, an interesting clash of UBO All-Africa champions took place between Light Heavyweight titlist Thomas Mashali and Super Middleweight champion Alibaba Ramadhani, but at Middleweight and with the vacant UBO All-Africa crown at stake.

Mashali proved too strong for Ramdhani, and won his second UBO All-Africa title by fourth round technical knockout. At least for the time being he will remain champion at both Light Heavyweight and Middleweight, and Ramadhani also remains Super Middleweight ruler.

Thomas Mashali improved his professional record to 11-3-1 (6), and Ramadhani falls to 12-10 (5).
