The 32-year-old is
now taking the next step,
as he will face Osgood “The Punisher” Kayuni from
Malawi, a man he has lost to twice, for the vacant
UBO World Lightweight title on October 5 at the
Mkwakwani Stadium in his hometown of Tanga.
Kamote
(24-7-4, 14 KOs) dropped a majority decision to
Kayuni (17-2-1, 8 KOs) in Malawi in February of
2012, and lost the rematch, also in Malawi, by
another close decision ten months later.
Now he
will get another chance to beat his rival, but
this time on home ground.

Kayuni
(29) lost two fights in 2013, both on points in
Zambia and Uganda against very strong opponents,
but has since come back with two solid victories
in Malawi to set up what will be his first
opportunity to capture a world championship.
A strong
undercard, possibly with a second UBO title
fight, will support the main event of this show
promoted by Mwazoa Promotion, and local fans are
expected to turn up in big numbers to support
the favorite son of Tanga.
