When Universal Boxing Organization™ International Light Heavyweight Champion Mohamed Merah makes his second title-defense on April 11 at the Salle Theo Bouton in Douai, France, he will be in with his toughest foe to date in Mexican puncher Jose Carlos Rodriguez.

Merah, who has compiled a 9-1-3, (2) record since turning pro in 2010, won the UBO title in March 2013 with a victory over Germanys Steve Kroekel, and successfully defended his crown last November with a unanimous decision over Georgian Paata Aduashvili.

Nicknamed “El Feo” (The Ugly!), Jose Carlos Rodriguez is not travelling to France to win a beauty pageant with technical boxing, and having stopped eleven of his thirteen previous victims (13-6-2, 11 KOs), his mission will undoubtedly be to take matters out of the judges hands.

The man from Guadalajara started his pro career in 2008 at Cruiserweight, and later fought at Heavyweight, but he is now rededicated to the sport and reportedly in better shape than ever. In his latest outing, this past November, he knocked out countryman Jorge Armando Martinez in two rounds.

The Merah vs. Rodriguez UBO International Light Heavyweight title fight will be promoted by Robert Pantigny and Douai Boxing Club, and will be the main event of a show that also features a second title bout.
