On November 15 in Saint Quentin, France, former European Union and Mediterranean Champion Tony Averlant will attempt to add another title to his collection when he takes on an opponent to be announced for the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ Inter-Continental Light Heavyweight crown.

29-year-old Averlant (18-8-2, 4 KOs) left the amateur ranks in 2006, and captured his first championship, the IBF Mediterranean, in 2010 stopping Italian Gianluca Tamburrini in Rome.

The following year he drew with Artur Hein in a bout for the EU title, proving again that he is a quality operator abroad as well as at home.

Later in 2011 he went to Germany again to rematch Hein (14-1), and this time he didn’t leave it up to the judges as he stopped the home man in round eleven to win the EU championship.

However, in 2012 he came up short in a challenge for the European title when he dropped a close split decision to another German contender, Eduard Gutknecht. .

In his latest outing, this past April, Averlant lost another crack at the European title when former world champion Juergen Braehmer (39-2) landed a vicious body-shot in the second round, but overall the results of the Frenchman has proven that he is a top fighter at European level.

Now he is ready to have another go at glory, and promoter Pascal Cordier of Bleu Ciel Productions is hoping to soon make official who will be in the opposite corner on November 15.
