In regards to the extraordinarily controversial outcome of the UBO International Super Welterweight title fight on July 4, 2026 in Barge, Italy between Alessio Terragno and Petros Alifantaros, the Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) issues the following statement:

The fight ended in round 8, the final round, when the doctor advised the referee that the fight should be stopped due to a cut suffered by Mr. Alifantaros, making Mr. Terragno the winner and new UBO champion.

It is our clear opinion that this was not a justifiable decision, that an extraordinary and clear injustice was done, and that Mr. Alifantaros should have been allowed to continue, especially considering that he was likely going to win the fight had it not been stopped.

The UBO, or any other championship organization, is in no legal position to rule on official results, as this is solely within the power of the local boxing commission, in this case the Federazione Pugilistica Italiana (FPI).

The UBO can only rule on the UBO title, and, all things considered, it is our decision that the only defense of the UBO title we will accept for Mr. Terragno, is a rematch with Mr. Alifantaros, unless Mr. Alifantaros is not interested in a rematch!

We have asked the teams of both boxers to start negotiations for a rematch in good faith, and it is our understanding that both teams are willing to move forward with plans for a rematch.

It was an excellent fight, the outcome was unfortunate for both boxers, and we hope they will soon be given a chance to win without controversy.
