Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) world Super Middleweight champion Vladimir Georgiev (14-4, 3 KOs) from Bulgaria turned professional in December of 2018, and has had something of an up and down campaign.

His first five paid bouts took place in the United Kingdom, where he won his first four but came up short on the scorecards to future English, WBA Continental, British and Commonwealth champion Zak Chelli in November of 2020.

He then returned to Bulgaria where he won four straight before going back to the UK for a clash with 13-0 Aaron Sutton on May 14, 2022. He also lost this one on points, but again he proved that he could compete with quality opponents.

After two more victories in Bulgaria he travelled to France in December of 2022 to face another undefeated foe in up-and-coming hope Zaire Fataki Tshitenge (5-0), who was awarded a very close decision which could have gone either way.

On June 2, 2023 things finally went his way when he defeated (UD) unbeaten Zdravko Popov (12-0-1) to win the Bulgarian national Super Middleweight title. It was an excellent win, proven by the fact that Popov has since won five on the trot.

In February of 2024 Georgiev continued to build on his momentum when he out-scored former WBA and WBC regional titlist Juan “El Nino” Ruiz (27-7) from Venezuela. This victory put him in line for another big fight in the UK.

On April 20, 2024 he squared off with highly touted Shakiel Thompson (11-0) for the WBO Global and IBF European Middleweight titles in Rotherham. It was not his night though, as Thompson became the first and so far only man to beat Georgiev inside the distance, getting a stoppage in round 8.

After some time out to regroup. Georgiev returned to winning ways seven months later, and in July of 2025 he scored the biggest win of his career to date, a unanimous decision over former Spanish, IBF International and European Union champion Ronny Landaeta (22-6) to win the UBO world title.

Since then Georgiev has been dealing with injuries, but it is the hope that he will be ready to make his first world title-defense in the first quarter of 2026.
