Italian up-and-comer Sebastiano Argiolas scored his biggest win to date on Saturday, December 13, winning the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) International Super Welterweight title in the process.

In Serdiana on Italian island Sardinia, not far from his home-town of Cagliari, Argiolas took on Claudiu Lacatus, winning by unanimous decision. The fight was broadcast live by Directa Sport.

Lacatus, from Romania but also fighting out of Sardinia, was game as they come, but Argiolas fought a disciplined fight from start to finish and was the more accurate and active man in most of the rounds.

Argiolas threw plenty of power-shots, and Lacatus handled most of them well, making it an entertaining watch. But in round five Argiolas connected with a left hook which sent Lacatus down.

Lacatus beat the count of referee Gavino Mannu and tried to retaliate, but it was a big round for Argiolas who at this point was taking firm control of the fight.

Lacatus never stopped trying, and always played his part, but Argiolas was just too sharp. In the end judges Roberto Poerio, Angelo Brioccia and Pietro Venturu scored the fight 78-73, 74-77 and 80-71, all in favour of Argiolas.

The new UBO International champion improved his professional record to 10-1-1 (5). Lacatus did himself proud, but drops to 10-2 (1). The fight was promoted by ASD Bazooka Boxing Gym.
