March 2025 UBO Boxer Of The Month: Mate Rudan

On Monday March 17 Croatia´s Mate Rudan (8-0, 7 KOs) was just ticking over, hoping to soon have a fight-date to progress his undefeated professional boxing career.

  
 

Saturday night, March 22, he had scored the biggest victory of his career against the best opponent of his career, and was the new Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Continental (Europe) Middleweight champion.

When the original opponent for Nicola Cristofori (16-3-2, 1 KO) fell out, Rudan bravely agreed to step in and fight the accomplished and skilled Italian for the vacant UBO title, on just a few days notice, essentially saving the main event of the show in Ferrara, Italy.

In Cristofori´s home-town, Rudan was knocked down hard in round four but gamely got up and fought back, arguably winning the last three rounds to clinch a split decision.


 
 

This effort, and all the circumstances surrounding it, makes Mate Rudan the March 2025 UBO Boxer of the Month, and a very deserved one at that.
