Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Continental (Asia) Welterweight champion Jopeher Montano (19-5-2, 17 KOs) is only twenty-eight years old, but more seasoned, experienced and accomplished than most of his pears.

El Gwapito” turned professional at eighteen in January of 2015, in his native Philippines, and went 5-0-1 (5) in his first year as a prize-fighter.

But after that, things didn't go all his way for a while. While he did pick up the Asian Boxing Federation Super Lightweight title along the way, his record only stood at 10-5-2 after a split decision loss to Indonesian John Ruba in July of 2019.

He lost to opponents he should never have lost to, but winners never quit, and Montano refused to give up on his dreams of one day becoming a world champion.

In November of 2022 he won the WBO Oriental Welterweight title, stopping Kulbir Dhaka from India in six rounds, and less than three months on he captured the WBA Asia title by out-pointing Chna´s Baishanbo Nasiyiwulu.

In March of 2023 he added the Asian Boxing Federation Welterweight belt to his collection, and then won the UBO Continental (Asia) title in October of 2024 with a very impressive performance against Shiva Thakran, stopping the Indian in five rounds in Bangkok, Thailand.

On May 13 in Broadbeach, Australia, Montano will attempt to win yet another title, when he faces local man Ben Mahoney for the IBF Inter-Continental title at Super Welterweight. Broadcast live on DAZN world-wide, this is a major opportunity for him to let the world know what he is capable of.
