Bulgaria, Garino, Postponements & More...

The undercard for next week’s UBO International Middleweight title fight in Bulgaria (2.20) between Alexey Ribchev and Jurijs Boreiko is shaping up nicely. Promoter Vasko Vasilev of Alexseev Promotions has eight fights scheduled before the main event.
 
 

Most notably Bulgarian Lightweight Champion Asan Yuseinov will see action, and local girl Kremena Petkova will take on former WIBF World title challenger Borislava Goranova, also from Bulgaria.

Not long ago UBO Youth Cruiserweight Champion Hizni Altunkaya had to withdraw from a fight due to injuries he sustained in a car accident, and now another UBO titelist has had some bad luck in trafic.

According to promoter Fabian Heck, female World Featherweight champion Bettina Gabriela Garino recently broke here collarbone, right wrist and right knee in a car crash. She is hoping to start rehabilitation as soon as possible, and hopes are that she will return to the ring sometime this spring.

The Universal Boxing Organization™ wishes Garino a speedy and full recovery!

Female World Lightweight Champion Cecilia Comunales was celebrated with a big parade in hometown Paysandu, Uruguay a few days after her title-winning bout with Halana Dos Santos on January 9.

22-year-old Comunales won the UBO World title by stopping Dos Santos in round six at Hotel & Casino Conrad in Punte Del Este.

The World title defense of Super Middleweight Champion Kali Jacobus originally scheduled for February 19 in Port Vila, Vanuatu is postponed due to the Hurricane Season. New working date is March 19, but the promoter is still working on confirming the venue.

Due to the postponement an opponent is still not confirmed.
 

More Postponements: The International Cruiserweight title fight between Momo Dridi and Luzimar Gonzaga will now likely go ahead on April 7 in France. The UBO All-Africa title twin-bill originally set for February 12 in Nigeria is postponed to a yet to be decided date.
