Toledo Scores Another Victory, Belt Problems in Brazil and more...

UBO - Universal Boxing Organization™
UBO Inter-Continental Lightweight champion Humberto "Bam Baby" Toledo returned to action on November 11 in a non-title fight at the Quito Tennis & Golf Club in Quito, Ecuador, scoring a ten-round unanimous decision over former NABC, WBA Fedebol and Panamanian champion Armando Cordoba.

Cordoba doesn’t win often these days, but he has faced an incredible list of opponents and gone the distance with former or future world champions Freddie Norwood, Zahir Raheem, Mike Anchondo, Robbie Peden, Steven Luevano, Humberto Soto, Clarence “Bones” Adams, Vicente Mosquera and Celestino Caballero.

He also holds a victory over former WBA World champion Antonio Cermeno.

Toledo, who won the UBO title in September stopping Dominican Luis Ernesto Jose in eight rounds, improved his professional record to 39-6-2 (24), and could next be in line to fight for the vacant world title.

The 31-year-old Ecuadorian is riding a six-fight winning streak since losing on a tenth-round disqualification to Amir Khan Conqueror Breidis Prescott last year.

The UBO Latino Light Heavyweight title fight originally scheduled for November 20 in Sao Paolo, Brazil between Fabio Garido and Brinatty Maquilon is postponed. New date is December 18. The reason being that Brazilian customs are holding back the UBO championship belt, along with thousands of other articles, as part of a huge operation aimed at illegally imported merchandize.

UBO Inter-Continental Lightweight Champion Humberto Toledo with his UBO belt!

The UBO belt is of course not illegally imported, but due to the massive amount of packages waiting to be cleared, the belt is delayed and the promoter of the fight decided it was too important to have the belt on hand for the winner to go ahead without it.

Yet another interview with up-coming UBO International title challenger, and former world champion, Jeff “Left Hook” Lacy hit the internet very recently, this time done by Daxx Kahn of saddoboxing.com. Mr. Lacy is without a doubt still a very big name in the sport, and after a radio interview conducted by 8Count News on November 14, uboboxing.com published a Q & A with “Left Hook” this past Friday (November 19).

Lacy is fighting Dhafir “No Fear” Smith at the Jannus Live in hometown Saint Petersburg, Florida on December 11, and tickets are available via www.ticketmaster.com

The opponent for UBO All-American lightweight champion Mason Menard on December 2nd at the Hilton Towers in Lafayette, Louisiana is now set. Menard, 13-1 (11), will take on Dedrick Bell, 5-3 (3), over eight rounds in the headliner of Chad Broussard´s “Heat at the Hilton” show. Tickets available via www.boxncar.com
