After successfully defending his UBO World
Lightweight title on June 16 with an
impressive unanimous decision over Lonnie
Smith, Mason Menard (20-1, 14 KOs) is
set to make a quick return. |
|
|
| |
Menard is back in the main event of another show
promoted by Boxncar Promotions at the Evangeline
Downs Casino in Opelousas, Louisiana on August 11,
where he will take on Ivan Otero (8-1, 2 KOs) from
Puerto Rico over eight rounds.
•
On August 18 at the Doubletree Miamimart
Hotel in Miami, Florida, UBO International
Lightweight Champion Rances “Kid Blast”
Barthelemy (16-0, 11 KOs) squares off
with rugged Mexican Alejandro Rodriguez
(14-6, 7 KOs) over eight rounds.
At only 24 years of age, Rodriguez is used to
facing all comers, and his losses were to
excellent opposition: Andrey Klimov (13-0), Jose
Roman (12-0), Mickey Bey Jr. (16-0-1), John Molina
(21-1), Eloy Perez (20-0-2) and Jose Mendoza
(4-0).
•
All-America Middleweight Champion Tony
“Mo Better” Jeter (13-3-1, 9 KOs) will
be returning to action on September 22 at
Club One Fitness in Millersville, Maryland.
No opponent announced yet.
Jeter won the UBO All-America title in his last
outing, this past February, when he scored a
Unanimous decision over Jose Felix who had beaten
him in his previous bout. |

Congratulations to UBO Inter-Continental
Cruiserweight Champion Roy Jones Jr.
(56-8, 40 KOs) on his fine victory in Poland
on June 30.
Jones, a former Middleweight, Super Middleweight,
Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight World Champion,
won on points over undefeated local hero Pawel
Glazewski (17-0).
•
UBO World Bantamweight Champion Fernando
Lumacad (26-4-3, 11 KOs) got a raw deal on
July 14 when he lost a disputed majority decision
after ten rounds of a non-title bout at Super
Flyweight against reigning WBA World Flyweight
Champion Hernan “Tyson” Marquez (33-2, 25 KOs) in
Mexico.
The judges scored the fight 95-95, 94-96 and
94-97, but many ringsiders felt Lumacad, who won
his UBO World title in April in Hong Kong,
deserved the victory.
