Change of plans: Instead of a
title defense, International
Cruiserweight Champion
Matamba Postolo (11-0, 6
KOs) will move up in weight to
fight for the vacant UBO
All-Africa Heavyweight title on
October 30. No opponent is
confirmed yet. Promoter
Mukadi Manda has several
All-Africa title fights planned
for the coming months. Some in
the Democratic Republic of Congo
(D.R.C.) and some in Republic of
the Congo, also known as just
The Congo or Congo-Brazzaville.
Kinshasa, where the famous
Muhammad Ali vs. George Foreman
fight took place in 1974 is
located in D.R.C.

UBO All-America lightweight
champion Mason Menard’s
fight on October 14 at the
Capita Pavilion in Rayne,
Louisiana has been cancelled due
to building code problems,
according to matchmaker John
Bryant. Instead Menard scored a
second round knockout over
journeyman Terrance Roy
on September 24 at the Paragon
Casino in Marksville, Louisiana
to improve his record to 13-1
(11). He is next set to appear
in another non-title fight on
December 2nd at the
Hilton Towers in Lafayette,
before hopefully defending his
UBO title early next year.

What happened to The Ironman?
Finland’s Kai “Ironman”
Kauramaki won the UBO
Inter-Continental Super
Middleweight title in 2007. He
then hit a rough patch, and lost
four consecutive fights “on the
road” against very good
opposition. In 2009 things
turned around for him again as
he won four straight, including
solid victories over 17-1-1
Mariusz Cendrowski in Poland
and 15-3 Magomed
Abdurakhmanov in Finland.
His winning-streak came to an
end this past August as he lost
a decision to the undefeated
(8-0) Marcus Nader in Germany.
