New UBO Canada Representative, Dr. S. in Connecticut Hall of Fame and More...

UBO - Universal Boxing Organization™
Richard Cloutier recently decided to resign from his position as UBO Canada representative, and is replaced by Mr. Richard Blouin. The Universal Boxing Organization™ would like to thank Cloutier for his efforts in advancing the UBO in Canada, and welcome Blouin on board.

Richard Blouin has many years experience in the professional boxing business, and has done everything from writing about the sport to managing and training fighters. He is currently the Quebec representative of the Canadian Professional Boxing Council.

UBO Chief Medical Officer, and one of the best and most knowledgeable ringside physicians in the world, Dr. Michael Schwartz has been elected into the Connecticut Boxing Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will be at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT on October 29.

The Universal Boxing Organization™ congratulates Dr. S. with this great honor. It is very much deserved!

Congratulations to newly crowned UBO Inter-Continental Welterweight Champion Jo Jo Dan who, after his title-winning performance against Iwan Azore on July 29, was nominated for a world title eliminator by the WBC, and a rematch with Selcuk Aydin from Turkey.

Hall-of-Fame bound trainer Freddy Roach with new UBO Canada Representative Richard Blouin.

Aydin won their first fight on a controversial split decision in June 2010 in Turkey, and Dan’s promoter Chris Ganescu of Gankor Promotions has wowed to do everything he can to keep the rematch out of Aydin’s home country.

The UBO International Super Middleweight title has been declared vacant, as former champion Dhafir “No Fear” Smith has been unable to set up a defense inside the required time period, and has no immediate plans for a defense.

Smith won the title December 11 2010 when he beat former world champion Jeff Lacy in Saint Petersburg, Florida. The UBO has been proud to have Smith as one of our champions, and wish him good luck in the future.

The UBO Latino Welterweight title is also vacant after Franklin Mamani failed to communicate his plans for a sanctioned defense of the championship. Several “defenses” has been advertised in Bolivian media, but none were ever sanctioned by the UBO.

Mamani won the Latino title in October 2010 by stopping Brazilian Idiozan Matos in three rounds.

Matamba Postolo won the vacant UBO Inter-Continental Cruiserweight title on July 30 when he stopped old foe Mohamed Asma from Niger in two rounds. Original opponent Guido Santana didn’t make it to D.R.C.

Postolo held the UBO All-Africa title before this fight, and vacated when winning the I-C Cruiser title.

A fight for the All-Africa Heavyweight title fight between Jenny Lukasa and Charles Chisamba, scheduled for this past weekend (August 6) in D.R.C., was cancelled at the last minute when Chisamba pulled out and no suitable replacement could be found on time.
