| Sweden-based promoter Eddie Bazira (Pictured) is now looking for a new date for the show that was set to go ahead at the Hotel Africana. This past July suicide bombings, carried out against crowds watching a screening of the 2010 FIFA World Cup final match at two locations in Kampala, left 74 dead and 70 injured, and now the risk of new attacks have made authorities decide to be extra cautious for the time being. “We have every intention of going ahead with this big fight at a later date, and of course we have full understanding when police feel it is necessary to make precautions such as this. "We hope to find a new date in September or October and that we will be allowed to go ahead eventually”, said Bazira, the CEO of Baltic Pro Box Promotions. Al-Shabaab, an Islamist Somali militia believed to have ties to the Al-Qaida terrorist organization, claimed responsibility for the July attacks as retaliation for Ugandan support for the African Union Mission to Somalia. |
