Universal Boxing Organization™ Inter-Continental Super Middleweight Champion Anthony ”The Dog” Dirrell (24-0, 21 KOs) is on the road back to the ring after his motorcycle accident a few months ago, and according to his brother, Andre Dirrell, recently had surgery to repair injuries on his hip and hand.

Andre, also a world class Super Middleweight contender who just signed with 50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather Jr. (TMT Promotions), was a guest on the Boxing Lab radio show this week and spoke about his brother’s situation with optimism.

“He just had the surgery on the hip and hand, and the doctors say he can start working out in about four months. He is in high spirits, and will be coming to Florida to visit me before I head off to camp”, said the former World title-challenger and Super Six participant.

Anthony Dirrell won the UBO title in July 2011 with a fifth round knockout over former US Olympian Dante Craig, and has since scored two impressive victories over Kevin Engel (KO2) and Renan St. Juste (TKO4).

At the time of the accident he was in line to fight for a world title, but obviously that plan is now on hold.
