Menard won the UBO World title in August 2011 when
he impressively stopped Joseph Laryea from Ghana
in four rounds, and he has since stayed busy with
clear victories in non title fights over Rynell
Griffin and Herbert Quartey.
Residing in nearby Rayne, Menard can expect
massive support from his loyal fans on June 16.
25 years old, two years older than the champion,
“Lightning” Lonnie Smith comes from a strong
boxing pedigree. His father, who also fought as
“lightning” Lonnie Smith, is a former Light
Welterweight World Champion (1985), and his uncle
is former Light Heavyweight World Champion Eddie
Mustafa Muhammad.
Now young Lonnie from Las Vegas is out to emulate
his dad and uncle by winning a world title, and he
will be going all out against Menard to fulfill
his dream.
Both boxers are in for a tough challenge, and with
twenty-four knockouts between them it promises to
be an explosive fight.
Also on the card will be interesting bouts
featuring undefeated middleweight Travis Scott
(9-0, 2 KOs), undefeated lightweights Cody Richard
(9-0-1, 4 KOs) and Chris Singleton (4-0, 2 KOs),
light heavyweight prospect Bailey Bobbit (8-1, 5
KOs) and debutant Dylan Hollier. |
