Of the world’s seven continents, the only one we
didn’t sanction a championship fight on in 2011
was Antarctica! And I don’t think anybody did
that…
We are very proud to be part of Chinese boxing
history, as our World Super Lightweight Champion
Li Wen Yang is the first male professional world
champion the country has ever had. China has so
many talented boxers, so I am sure that many will
follow him.
2011 was also the year where we launched our
Champions GIFT program in cooperation with the
Global Institute of Functional Training. The GIFT
program gives former and current UBO champions an
opportunity to prepare for life after their active
careers by becoming certified conditioning coaches
free of charge, and we hope many will take
advantage of this offer in the future.
I want to thank all the promoters, managers,
matchmakers, agents and boxing commissions that we
have worked with in 2011, but most of all a big
thank you goes out to all the boxers, winners as
well as losers, who fought for UBO titles. We are
proud of, and appreciate, each and every one of
you!
I also want to express my gratitude to all our
regional representatives and coordinators who are
doing a magnificent job for the UBO, as well as
all the other people who in one capacity or the
other help us grow and make progress every year.
At the same time I would like to acknowledge the
thousands and thousands of boxing fans who follow
the UBO on Facebook and Twitter. Your support is
so important, and every one of you is appreciated.
Thank you!
As we always do, we will start the New Year with
our annual UBO Boxing Awards and the winners will
be published here on the website in early January.
In the meantime, Happy Holidays to everybody and
may you all have a great 2012!
