Tanzanian veteran Joseph ”Hungry Lion” Marwa
captured the vacant Universal Boxing Organization
Intercontinental cruiserweight title on August 31 at
the DDC Magomeni in Dar Es Salaam in a competitive
and entertaining affair.
Marwa, a former Tanzanian, PABA, African (WBC-ABU),
and IBF Continental Africa champion, stopped “Big
Joe” Mwale from Malawi in the seventh round on a
show promoted by Neleo Petro Promotions and
supervised and sanctioned by the Pugilistic
Syndicate of Tanzania in cooperation with the UBO..
The new champion’s record is now 22-11-1 (6), Mwale
dips to 14-4 (5).
Referee for the bout was Bakari Seleman, judges:
Ally Champion, Anthony Ruta and Rajabu Ndwika.
