Ege
Konuk (14-0, 8 KOs), from Turkey but based in
Thailand, faces Chaiyapong Phongwankittikun
(10-0, 9 KOs), also known as Jackie Little
Yodsanan, for the vacant UBO Youth world Super
Lightweight title.
Konuk (22) was
originally planned to co-headline in a UBO Youth
world title double-header with his twin-brother
Efe, but
Efe
is currently occupied with the WBC Grand Prix in
Saudi Arabia, where he won his first round bout
on April 18.
Instead Ege,
who already has UBO Continental (Asia), IBF
Asia, WBC Asia and Asian Boxing Federation
titles on his resume, will now take centre stage
against
one of
Thailand's most promising up-and-comers, and
unquestionably
his most dangerous foe to date.

23-year-old
Phongwankittikun
turned pro in
2019, and holds wins over seasoned boxers such as
former WBC Asian champion Yotchanchai Yakaeo and
former IBF Pan Pacific titlist Aekka Kaewmanee.
In December of
2023 he became Asian Boxing Federation champion,
and has since defended that title successfully
once. In Konuk he will also be stepping in with
his best opponent so far.
“Somebody´s
O must go”, and this is guaranteed to be an
exciting and explosive encounter. Both boxers
deserve a lot of credit for risking their
undefeated records against each-other.
