Tebazalwa, taking his record to 10-2 in Kampala, had
earlier in the year lost a split decision in a challenge
for the WBF world title, but he made sure to make the
most of his second chance to become world champion, as
he controlled Ameme from the outset before ending the
fight with a hard right uppercut that send his fellow
African staggering into the ropes, where referee Nemish
Kavishe called a halt at the 1:56 mark of the fifth
stanza.
A happy and exited new world champion made his
intentions clear after the bout, saying to anyone who
would listen:
“I am ready to fight anybody who stands in my way at the
moment! Bring them all on!”
Peter Semo also took things out of the judges’ hands and
got rid of Palasa with a flurry of effective shots.
Referee Anthony Smale from South Africa stopped the
fight at 2:23 of the fourth, when Palasa was not
punching back and getting hit repeatedly.
The new world lightweight champion, who is now an
impressive 17-1, immediately, and publicly, challenged
former world title challenger Justin Juuko:
“I want to challenge Juuko to a fight in March 2008 here
in Nakivubo. It’s great to have given a good show to my
fans and I am looking forward for bigger fights next
year.”
The Universal Boxing
Organization want to congratulate the new champions, and
acknowledge and congratulate the promoter and the
Ugandan Boxing Commission for staging a great event.
