India´s Jitender Thakur is the new Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Continental (Asia) Super Lightweight champion.

 
 

Thakur won the vacant title on Saturday, September 20, at Sports Complex Yoshlik in Urgench, Uzbekistan, defeating Aidos Tastayev from Kazakhstan.


In a high-paced and close encounter, Thakur and Tastayev both put on a good performance, but it was Thakur who impressed the judges most with his sharp punches and activity.


After ten rounds of action, one judge had it even 95-95, while two judges saw it for Thakur by 96-94 and 98-92 scores, making him the winner by majority decision.


 
 

The new UBO Continental champion improved his professional record to 10-1-1 (4). Tastayev, who was coming off four inside the distance victories, drops to 6-7 (5).

The fight was the main event of a show promoted by Abdulla Allabergenov in association with Tunal Academy.
