Talented 18-year-old American Brady Ochoa won the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Continental (North America) Super Featherweight title on Saturday night, June 28, in Colima, Mexico.

With a disciplined performance, the undefeated teenager showed what he is made of when he defeated tough campaigner Jonathan Uribe by split decision, taking his record to 7-0 (2).

Ochoa, from Gilbert, Arizona, boxed well with his jab in the early rounds, controlling the range while also putting together the occasional sharp combination to fend off his otherwise game Mexican opponent in the first half of the bout.

The second half became more of a battle at close quarters, which suited Uribe, but it was still Ochoa who appeared to get the better of most exchanges.

Uribe, now 6-6-4 (2), was always dangerous with his left hook, keeping the young man focused, and never stopped trying, and made it a competitive fight all the way.

Promoted by Rios Boxing Promotions, the fight ended with the two boxers going toe-to-to for a very good finish, but Ochoa was the rightful winner. The judges scores were: 77-75 and 78-74 for Ochoa, and 78-74 for Uribe.
