Thiophilus Allotey defeated fellow Ghanaian David Tagoe to win the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Continental (Africa) Super Flyweight title on Friday, April 25.

At the legendary Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra, the fight started slowly with both boxers being cautious in round one, but it caught fire early in round two when Allotey floored Tagoe with a left hook.

Tagoe beat the count but found himself under massive pressure as Allotey tried to finish the fight, but Tagoe fought back valiantly and finished the round strongly.

Knowing he could hurt his man, Allotey spent the next couple of rounds fighting on the retreat, trying to counter with hard shots, which enabled Tagoe to come forward and even things up.

But in round five Allotey appeared to be in control again, and had Tagoe in some trouble in rounds six and seven, before Tagoe decided to stay on his stool at the beginning of round eight.

Allotey the winner by technical knockout, the new UBO champion improved his professional record to 10-0 (9). Tagoe drops to 11-4-1 (10).

The fight was promoted by Nana´s Promotion in association with Wisdom Boxing Promotions.
