India´s Sagar Chauhan won the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Youth world Bantamweight title on Saturday, February 1 at the Bazaar Hotel Bangkok in Bangkok, Thailand.

In one of four championship fights on a big card promoted by TL Boxing Promotions in association with Irfin Promotions, Chauhan scored a seventh round Technical Decision over Ali Abbas Jeddy from Pakistan.

There was no love lost between these two boxers, which was clear when a shoving-match erupted at the weigh-in, and both looked determined to take control of the fight with hard punches.

But it was the older Chauhan (24), imposing his superior physique, who got off to the best start, and landed the better shots on Jeddy (20) who appeared to struggle with the southpaw stance of his opponent.

The rounds were competitive, but Chauhan boxed very well and scored often with left hooks and straight left hands.

In round seven an accidental head-clash cut Jeddy badly above his left eye, and the ringside doctor decided he could not continue.

Consequently the fight went to the scorecards, where judges Carlos Costa and Prommasse Chakshuraksha had Chauhan ahead 70-63 and judge Pinit Prayadsab scored it 70-64.

Chauhan improved his professional record to 5-0-1 (1), while Jeddy, who is young and talented and can come back strong, loses for the first time as he drops to 6-1 (1).
