This was a rematch, as the pair fought last April with Cherkashyn also winning on points for the WBC Feconsur title at Super Middleweight.

Hinojosa clearly had revenge on his mind, as he started the fight aggressively and continued to push forward the entire ten rounds.

Early on the Argentinians tactics didn't suit Cherkashyn, but as the rounds passed he found a better rhythm and started to score more frequently.

It was a fight of two halves, and while the visitor started best it was Cherkashyn who had most joy in the later rounds where he was successful fighting on the back foot and landed plenty of hard counter-shots.

It was very entertaining, and many rounds were close and hard to score. The initiative was with Hinojosa, but many punches were blocked and Cherkashyn did well in making his opponent pay when he missed.

Judge Nazalda Dantas scored it 96-94, which seemed like the most accurate tally, while judges Elias Massabo and Ricardo Smith had it much wider at 98-92 and 99-91, scores which may be justifiable but didn't reflect the competitiveness of the bout.

Cherkashyn remained undefeated as he took his professional record to 12-0 (5). Hinojosa, who proved he was very much deserving of the rematch, drops to 8-4 (0).

The fight was the main event of a show promoted by 24 Box Promotions at the Gimnasio Gabriela Mistral.
