FRANCIS CHEKA WINS MIDDLEWEIGH I/C TITLE
 
Tanzanian Francis Cheka won the vacant UBO Intercontinental middleweight title on Saturday March 1st, when he knocked out fellow countryman Hassan Matumla in the 10th round of a show at the Diamond Jubilee Hall in Dar Es Salaam. Cheka takes his record to 14-5-1 (9) and Matumla falls to 14-7 (9).

UBO Intercontinental cruiserweight champion Goran Delic succesfully defended his title on May 25 in Prijedor, Serbia with a unanimous decision over Croatian challenger Ivica Cukusic. 

After twelve hard-fought rounds the three ringside judges scored the bout 115-114, 117-113 and a too wide 120-113.

Universal Boxing Organization world bantamweight champion Nick “Kanyankole” Otieno retained his title on Saturday March 3, with a convincing seventh round stoppage of local rival Twalib Mubiru at the ballroom of the Grand Regency Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya. This was a hotly antisipated rematch, as Otieno captured the vacant belt last year with a very close split decision over Mubiru.
